My name is Virginia James. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Strategic Life Coach. I have experience supporting individuals, couples and family systems that have faced complex trauma, depression and anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss and relationship issues. I also have training in crisis intervention, legal advocacy and collaborative problem solving with adolescents and children. My clinical experience includes counseling clients from diverse backgrounds; including age, sex, sexual orientation, religion and culture. I proudly work with the LGBTQIA.  With individuals, I employ a holistic, integrative approach that utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Solutions-Focused or Strengths-Based Focus. With couples, I enjoy working through a Strengths-Based, Emotionally Focused Therapy lens. I collaborate with clients to tune into what really matters and help them move forward in a way that feels authentic and empowering. I approach therapy as an opportunity to connect our thoughts, feelings and actions with our past/present experiences and internalized cultural/familial messages. In all sessions, I strive to create a safe environment to allow for personal growth, awareness of self and the ability to build resiliency within one’s identity, family structures and relationships.
